If I have the chain drive cam on my 2002 Fatboy Twin Cam motor changed to a geared cam setup, so I don't have to worry about failed cam chain tensioners ever again, will my Harley Davidson warranty still apply ? If HD approves of this upgrade, what does the factory recommend ?

Answered by rob on October 15, 2009

Cam chain tensioners on 1999-2006 twin cams are considered a wear item and should be checked every 30000 km plus, it takes us about 1 hour.Harley-Davidson has 2 warrantiable options, replace with the same style new tensioners or change to there hydraulic tensioners which are on 2007 and later twin cams. If an extended warranty claim is started on your bike and requires an E.S.P. inspection and your bike is found to have aftermarket gear drives that may be related to the claim they have the right to deny your claim and terminate your E.S.P.

I became a rider in April of this year. I bought a V Rod from your dealership. Could you tell me what I should do to prepare for winter storage?

Answered by rob on October 15, 2009

Great question this time of year especially.First step should be to clean your bike thoroughly removing all road grime, dead bugs etc. Wax all chrome and painted parts , add fuel stabilizer to a full tank of fuel and run engine with stabilizer in it for a few minutes, this prevents varnish build up . A battery tender for your battery will prolong your battery life and a good breathable indoor storage cover is recommended to avoid condensation and longer exposure to sunlight. Storing the bike off the concrete floor is prefered , on a bike lift or sturdy stand to avoid cold concrete from drying out your tires and since we don,t generally check tire pressure in winter, long term storage on low tires can ruin them. We have all the great products to accomplish this as well as winter storage available here at the dealership and we can do it all for you see our home page for current specials.

I currently have a 2007 Harley Davidson Sportster 883 with 3100km\'s and was wondering if you would be interested in buying? Also if you could let me know how much this is worth that would be great.

In order to assess best value we would need to have our service and sales staff inspect your motorcycle here at the dealership or if its not currently on the road we can do a rough on site assesment .
